About the Role:

As a Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities , helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to the needs of the students.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, fostering a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
  • Implement individualised educational healthcare plans (EHCPs) and support strategies.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Promote positive behavior management techniques and support students in developing social skills.
  • Collaborate with the school team to ensure a holistic approach to student wellbeing and academic progress.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN needs in a primary school setting.
  • TA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting children's education and personal development.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Knowledge of relevant safeguarding and health & safety procedures.
  • DBS on the update service or willing to get one.
