About the Role

We are looking for a highly organised and motivated Finance Assistant to support our Finance Department with day-to-day business accounting activities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, communicating with colleagues and external partners, and contributing to the smooth running of a busy finance function.

You will play a key part in maintaining financial accuracy across the organisation by processing invoices, reconciling accounts, maintaining ledgers, and supporting staff with finance-related queries.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Finance Operations

  • Process purchase invoices and expenses
  • Carry out credit control duties, including chasing outstanding payments
  • Maintain cash book/day book records for income and expenditure
  • Update and manage purchase and sales ledgers
  • Conduct regular bank reconciliations
  • Raise and issue sales invoices
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and third-party finance providers
  • Provide general administrative support as needed

Finance Support & Reporting

  • Provide guidance to staff, suppliers and customers on finance processes and queries
  • Maintain and update finance procedures and process documentation
  • Ensure management information is accurate and available for internal and statutory reporting
  • Contribute to the review and improvement of finance policies and procedures
  • Identify and report anomalies or issues relating to finance transactions

Experience

  • Using computerised finance systems
  • Maintaining finance ledgers and ensuring financial controls are followed
  • Experience with credit control processes
  • Supporting colleagues with finance queries

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of financial systems (general ledger, sales ledger, purchase ledger, payroll, cash book)
  • Proficient IT skills, with the ability to learn new systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of accuracy and numerical ability
  • Team player with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
