Senior Backend Developer - Elixir / Ruby / Go
Location: Remote (One day a month in Chester)

We're helping a client find a Senior Backend Developer to play a key role in scaling an established IoT platform - already used by thousands of businesses across the UK and Europe. You'll balance technical excellence with execution - working closely with Product, QA, and DevOps to keep things moving fast without compromising on quality or scalability.

In the role, you'll be:

Designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable backend systems using Elixir and Ruby, with some Go in the mix

Taking the technical lead on key projects, supporting delivery while influencing the wider architecture

Guiding and mentoring junior engineers while setting the tone for engineering standards and delivery mindset

Working closely within a cross-functional agile team - collaborating to solve real-world problems at pace

Rolling up your sleeves when it counts - especially during high-pressure delivery periods

What we're looking for:

Significant experience as a backend engineer in modern product environments

Strong critical thinking skills and a pragmatic approach to problem solving

Ability to lead from the front - both technically and as a mentor

A product-led mindset - comfortable taking ownership from design to delivery

Passion for agile principles, team collaboration, and iterative improvement
