My client, an established manufacturing business within the packaging industry, is seeking an experienced Flexographic Printer to join their high-performing production team. Working Hours/Shift Patterns:
- Week 1 – 4 nights, 3 off
- Week 2 – 3 days, 1 off, 3 nights
- Week 3 – 3 off, 4 days
- Week 4 – 7 off
The Role:
As a Flexographic Printer, you will take the lead on operating and maintaining a wide-web flexographic press, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production output. You’ll play a key role in maintaining standards, supporting colleagues on press, and contributing to continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, run, and maintain flexographic printing machinery to optimum operational standards.
- Ensure safe working practices and strong hygiene, housekeeping, and environmental compliance.
- Monitor print quality throughout production and proactively resolve issues.
- Carry out print inspections, troubleshooting, and non-conformity rectification.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including production records and shift handovers.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S and continuous improvement activities.
- Perform efficient press changeovers while minimising waste.
- Oversee and support colleagues working on the print press.
About You:
- Fully trained Flexographic Printer with experience in solvent-based inks and wide-web presses.
- Background in packaging or label printing within a manufacturing setting.
- Experience with Fischer & Krecke or Bobst presses is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of quality, health & safety, and regulatory standards (e.g., BRC, ISO).
- Good literacy and numeracy skills; print-related qualifications (NVQ / City & Guilds) desirable.
- Plate mounting experience and exposure to lean manufacturing methods beneficial.
- Capable of physical aspects of the role (lifting, bending, etc.).
