We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Manager to join a well-established food manufacturing business based in St Austell. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to take ownership of two neighbouring production sites, leading the engineering function while driving reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement.
The Role As Engineering Manager, you will lead and develop a multi-skilled engineering team, ensuring production equipment and facilities operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. You will play a key role in maintenance strategy, engineering projects, and operational improvements across both sites.
Key Responsibilities -
Lead, manage, and develop the site engineering team, maintaining high performance and accountability.

Ensure production processes are reliable and efficient, maintaining product quality standards.

Oversee planned maintenance, reactive repairs, and contractor management, including fire alarm, refrigeration, and statutory services.

Ensure compliance with BRC, food safety, and legal standards.

Recruit, onboard, and develop engineering personnel as required.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring actions are implemented and measurable results achieved.

Work closely with production and technical teams to improve efficiency, quality, and equipment reliability.

Provide clear engineering updates and communication across the business.

Contribute to technical and maintenance budgets, identifying cost-saving and energy efficiency opportunities.

Ensure all engineering activities and contractor work meet health & safety legislation and standards.

Lead machinery trials, upgrades, and engineering projects, delivering on time and within budget.
Requirements -
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).

Proven experience in FMCG or food manufacturing environments.

Strong knowledge of Ammonia refrigeration systems, Multivac machinery, and general plant maintenance.

Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams within a manufacturing environment.
