Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Painting and Decorating Teacher to deliver practical and theory-based lessons in painting and decorating to students within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). The successful candidate will work with students who benefit from a hands-on, vocational learning approach, helping them develop valuable skills for further education or employment.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the needs students

Teach practical painting and decorating skills alongside theory and health & safety

*

Develop personalised learning plans to support individual student progress

*

Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment

*

Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback

*

Collaborate with support staff and teachers to support student welfare and development

*

Contribute to vocational curriculum planning and enrichment activities

Essential Requirements

*

Proven experience as a painter and decorator

*

Ability to engage and motivate students with additional learning needs

*

Strong communication, organisation, and classroom management skills

*

Willingness to work towards or hold a teaching qualification (e.g., Level 3 Award in Education & Training, PGCE, or equivalent)

*

Commitment to safeguarding and working with vulnerable young people

*

Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)

Desirable

*

Experience working in a PRU, alternative provision, or with vulnerable learners

*

Knowledge of vocational qualifications (City & Guilds, BTEC)

*

First Aid and Health & Safety certifications
