Role: 2nd Line Engineer

This role is based in Kent – candidates must hold a full UK driving licence and be able to commute to the Kent office daily.

About the Role

As a 2nd Line Engineer, you’ll be a key member of the technical team, working on varied support tasks, troubleshooting, and infrastructure management. You’ll:

  • Provide 2nd line ticket support on the Service Desk and handle hardware/software maintenance
  • Visit client sites to deliver proactive and reactive troubleshooting when required
  • Mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge and promoting best practice
  • Deliver excellent customer service with a professional, proactive approach
  • Recommend and implement system improvements and upgrades for clients
  • Apply strong technical skills across Windows servers, desktops, and networking technologies
  • Use logical, methodical troubleshooting to resolve complex IT issues

Core Technical Skills

  • Windows Server 2008–2022
  • Windows Desktop 7–11
  • Hosted Desktop / Terminal Server environments
  • Office 365 tenant setup & administration
  • VMware / Hyper-V administration
  • Networking fundamentals (DNS, routing, switching, etc.)
  • VoIP systems (ideally 3CX)

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Cisco/Draytek firewalls and routers
  • Apple product support
  • Group Policy administration
  • Azure AD, Intune, Defender
  • Wireless solutions (Ubiquiti / Cisco)
  • Previous MSP experience
  • Industry certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft, Apple, etc.)
