Job Overview


Clarence Recruitment are seeking a Teacher of Science for a secondary school in Tamworth. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across the science curriculum, inspiring students to develop a strong understanding of scientific concepts and a passion for learning. The role involves planning and delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress and contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
The postholder will play a key role in supporting students to achieve their full potential, fostering curiosity, critical thinking and a commitment to academic success. The role also includes contributing to the wider life of the school and supporting departmental development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons across the science curriculum in line with national expectations.
  • Create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that supports effective learning for all students.
  • Assess, monitor and report on student progress, using data to inform teaching and support outcomes.
  • Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including those with additional needs and high prior attainment.
  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour in line with organisational policies.
  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work and departmental resources.
  • Support the delivery of practical science, ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
  • Provide feedback to students to support their progress and development.
  • Participate in meetings, parents' evenings and wider school activities.
  • Contribute to the pastoral care of students as required, including tutor responsibilities where appropriate.
Person Specification


Essential

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Degree in a relevant scientific subject.
  • Strong subject knowledge across one or more science disciplines.
  • Ability to deliver engaging and effective lessons.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Ability to assess and track student progress effectively.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.


Desirable

  • Experience teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and 5 if applicable).
  • Experience of delivering practical science lessons.
  • Ability to teach across multiple science disciplines.
  • Experience of using data to raise attainment.
