We are working with a highly inclusive and supportive school in Newport seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of Additional Learning Needs (ALN). This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people and making a meaningful difference within an established Newport school.

The school places strong emphasis on inclusion, wellbeing, and ensuring every learner feels valued and able to access the curriculum.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

Support pupils with a range of ALN, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional and behavioural needs.
Provide 1:1 support and small‑group interventions.
Assist pupils with focus, motivation, emotional regulation, and accessing learning.
Support the class teacher with differentiated resources and behaviour management strategies.
Build strong, trusting relationships that promote independence and confidence.
Work collaboratively with the SENCO, teaching staff and external specialists.
This role is ideal for someone patient, adaptable, and committed to supporting pupils in an inclusive environment.

What We're Looking For

Experience supporting children or young people (school, SEN, youth work, childcare, healthcare, coaching or similar)
Understanding of SEN/ALN needs
A calm, resilient and positive approach
The ability to build rapport quickly with pupils needing additional support
Reliability and strong communication skills
A DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
