We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a September start, to work 1:1 with a child who has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and is in Year 2. This role requires a compassionate individual who has prior experience working with children who have autism, ideally within Key Stage 1. There may also be a requirement to work within the school breakfast club but is to be confirmed.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide tailored support to a child with ASD, ensuring they engage effectively in lessons and school activities.
  • Work closely with the classroom teacher to implement educational and behavioural strategies that support the child’s learning and social development.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor and support the child’s progress, adapting approaches as needed to suit their educational and emotional needs.
  • Facilitate communication between the child, teachers, and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to the child’s education and wellbeing.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for the child.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working with children who have Autism, essential.
  • Experience within KS1 is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of the needs and educational strategies for children with ASD.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A patient, caring, and professional approach to supporting learning.
