Principal Geotechnical Engineer Manchester | £50,000 - £55,000
An established engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead and grow their Manchester office. This is a senior opportunity for an experienced geotechnical professional who enjoys combining technical leadership, project delivery, and team development.
The role will involve taking responsibility for the technical direction, growth, and management of the Manchester geotechnical team, while delivering high-quality work across a range of infrastructure and development projects.
The Role
- Leading and developing the Manchester geotechnical team
- Managing the delivery of geotechnical and ground investigation projects
- Providing technical leadership on foundations, slopes, retaining structures, and earthworks
- Overseeing ground investigations, interpretation and geotechnical design
- Building and maintaining client relationships and supporting business development
- Managing project budgets, programmes and resource allocation
- Mentoring and supporting junior engineers and engineering geologists
- Supporting the growth and strategic development of the Manchester office
Requirements
- Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or related discipline
- Extensive experience in geotechnical consultancy
- Strong technical background in ground investigations and geotechnical design
- Experience managing projects, teams, and client relationships
- Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Chartered Geologist (CGeol)
- Commercial awareness and the ability to help grow a regional office
