Hours: 37 hours per week (rota basis)

Medway Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to join the team at one of their Ofsted-rated "Good in all areas" children's homes, nestled in an acre of stunning grounds in Upnor. This is more than just a job — it's an opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of children and young people.

The home provides a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for up to five children aged 11-17, with a strong emphasis on stability, wellbeing, and individual progress. Ofsted praised the home for its highly skilled and positive team, where “all the children are happy, safe and making progress.”

The Role: As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the leadership and daily operations of the home, ensuring a consistently high standard of care and safeguarding for the children. You will play a vital role in:

Leading and supervising a committed team of residential care professionals

Promoting a child-centred, therapeutic approach to care

Ensuring compliance with Ofsted and regulatory standards

Supporting staff development through coaching and reflective practice

Acting as a role model and upholding the home's ethos and values

Helping drive continuous improvement and positive outcomes for every child

What We're Looking For:
Previous experience in a leadership role within a children's residential care setting

NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) - Level 5 desirable or willingness to work towards it

A strong understanding of safeguarding, trauma-informed care and child development

Excellent leadership, communication and team-building skills

A passion for improving the lives of children and young people
