Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Nursery Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school located in Washington (NE38). This is a fantastic opportunity to support early years learners in a nurturing environment and make a real impact on their development.

Job Description

As a Nursery Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the Early Years teaching team to provide high‑quality support, ensure a safe learning environment, and contribute to the social, emotional, and educational development of children aged 3-4. You will help deliver engaging activities, assist with daily routines, and promote positive behaviour and developmental progress.

Key Responsibilities

Support the class teacher in delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
Assist with planning, preparing, and delivering age‑appropriate learning activities.
Provide individual and small‑group support to children, including those with additional needs.
Foster a positive, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
Monitor and record children's progress, feeding back to teaching staff where necessary.
Support children with personal care routines as required.
Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers.
Ensure safeguarding and child protection standards are consistently upheld.

Requirements for the Role

Relevant childcare or teaching assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning, Early Years qualification).
Paedatric First Aid Qualified
Previous experience working with early years or nursery-aged children, ideally in a school setting.
Strong understanding of EYFS principles and child development.
A caring, patient, and nurturing approach.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to use initiative and follow direction effectively.
A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
