Job Title: Learning Support Assistant - Complex Autism

Leader Education are recruiting an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work at a large SEND school based in Peterlee. The ideal candidate will have QTS, as well as experience teaching within schools that support children with complex autism. The school has ages ranging from 2 - 19-year-old with a diverse range of special educational needs. They pride themselves on being a warm and welcoming academy, that helps to secure the best possible outcomes for their students.
With their last Ofsted rating having a range of outstanding and good with an overall 'good' rating, they have significantly improved over the years to create a vibrant, enjoyable, and inclusive space for children.
The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 4.30pm and is a long-term position, given a successful trial.
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
- DBS or be willing to gain one.
- QTS / TRN.
- Specialised training or working experience in autism education is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with a variety of teaching methodologies and behavioural intervention strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and with external professionals.
