Macildowie are working as the recruitment partner for Melton Borough Council to recruit two Finance Business Partners to join their Corporate Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with service managers and budget holders, providing financial guidance that supports informed decision-making and ensures strong financial control across the Council.

As a Finance Business Partner, you will provide expert advice on areas including the Housing Revenue Account, treasury management, capital accounting, VAT, and budget preparation. You will play a key role in producing clear financial information, supporting service planning, and contributing to the development and delivery of the Medium-Term Financial Strategy. This role offers a career-graded pathway, allowing you to grow your responsibilities and impact as your experience and professional development progress.

What we’re looking for:

• AAT qualified, part-qualified CCAB accountant, or working towards a recognised professional accounting qualification, or equivalent relevant finance experience.
• Experience in financial reporting, budget monitoring, or financial analysis, with the ability to translate complex financial information for non-finance colleagues.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• A positive, solution-focused approach with a willingness to learn, challenge constructively, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Desirable experience:

• Previous business partnering or advisory finance role, ideally in a local authority or public sector setting.
• Knowledge of public sector financial management, governance, and reporting systems.
