About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Commercial Manager to join our team, supporting a portfolio of rail infrastructure projects in partnership with Network Rail. Based in Hertfordshire, this permanent role offers the opportunity to play a key part in the successful delivery of high-profile rail contracts, ensuring commercial excellence and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all commercial activities across assigned rail projects, ensuring alignment with Network Rail frameworks and governance.
  • Manage contract administration, including NEC3/4 contracts, change control, early warnings, and compensation events.
  • Provide accurate and timely cost reporting, forecasting, and budget management.
  • Support tendering and procurement processes, including subcontractor engagement and contract negotiation.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities, ensuring mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, planners, and engineers to ensure commercial objectives are met.
  • Prepare and present commercial reports to internal stakeholders and client representatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and client requirements.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a commercial management role within the rail or infrastructure sector.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts and Network Rail procedures.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, ICES) is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
