Tradewind is recruiting a dedicated Mental Health Support Worker to join an SEMH school in Wigan, supporting young people who require additional emotional, social, and behavioural support to succeed.

The Role

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a vital part in supporting teenagers who have faced significant social, emotional, or educational barriers. You'll work alongside a committed pastoral and SEND team to help students regulate, re-engage, and progress confidently.

Key Responsibilities

Emotional & Behavioural Support

Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group interventions for students with SEMH needs.
Use trauma-informed, restorative, and nurturing approaches to support emotional regulation.
Help create a calm, safe, and consistent school environment.Relationship Building

Act as a trusted adult and positive role model.
Build strong, professional relationships that encourage resilience, communication, and self-belief.Learning & Engagement Support

Encourage students to re-engage with learning and overcome barriers.
Work closely with teachers, pastoral leads, and the SENCO to ensure all needs outlined in EHCPs are supported effectively.Team Collaboration

Monitor and report on progress, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing.
Work alongside staff across the provision to deliver high-quality care and interventions.What We're Looking For

Experience supporting young people with SEMH or mental health needs.
A calm, patient, and resilient approach to managing challenging behaviour.
Strong communication, de-escalation, and relationship-building skills.
