Our client, a major social media company, is looking to fill a 3-month contract.
Duties: The candidate will coordinate and administer user studies to ensure high quality data annotation, and work with a cross functional team to collect feedback on tools in order to communicate trends to help improve our products and technology. The Research Assistant duties will include:
Setup and assist participants with running studies involving human subjects Recruit and encourage study participants for studies Manage schedule and complete studies on time without significant supervision.
Staging and setting up of equipment for studies. Set-up may involve engaging with external equipment vendors, internal and external safety evaluator, and the research study team to ensure the equipment is set-up properly and creation of study test materials/instructions Conduct studies: this includes any or all of the following: running the study procedures, collecting the data per study design, formatting and annotating the data, tracking of equipment and procedures, and creating basic reports regarding the data. The person will be expected to follow procedures related to maintaining confidential information and handling of confidential data.
Provide participant's perspective when designing / modifying studies and interpreting results Report and attempt to resolve any problems or issues in the hardware or software for a study Perform basic data manipulation and analysis on the collected results.
Study support services. Support research and development and give feedback to the study team to optimize study procedures.
Data Labeling and Quality Assurance:
Annotate data according to specifications discussed with principal investigator and create tutorials for training other team members on labeling. Manage labeling queues to ensure accuracy and timeliness of labeled data is meeting research team needs Consolidate feedback on annotation tooling and surfacing feedback to engineering team
Adhere to ethical codes related to conducting user research.
Ability to work with multiple Operating Systems - Linux/Windows/Android Ability to use software via user interface and command line interface, including software under development Ability to identify problems, bugs, and possible improvements Ability to document processes and findings using precise language understandable to both technical and non-technical professionals Willingness to continually learn and train in new software, hardware, and processes Ability to work independently on highly detailed and/or repetitive tasks Ability to collaborate across multiple teams and work on multiple projects simultaneously Ability to work with different hardware under development Ability to work with different off-the-shelf devices, and to conduct installation and integration processes to different user interfaces Ability to test and report problems about devices under development Ability to quickly absorb training on product and tool functionality Ability to handle data files and perform basic analysis Strong attention to detail Self-starter Excellent verbal and email communication skills Strong interest in quality and user experience Penchant for web technology (consumer of various web and mobile apps) a PLUS Experience working in VR/AR industry a PLUS
Education: BA/BS required
Computer Science degree or equivalent experience Experience with human experiments / data collection Experience with human vision science. Ability to perform data analysis such as visualization of collected data Ability to make simple modifications to code that defines a study in order to improve initial study design Interest in further developing some of these preferred qualifications.
