Malloy Aeronautics Team:
Malloy Aeronautics Limited specializes in the development of heavy lift unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) for both civilian and military uses. Located in Berkshire, our operations are notable for their focus on in-house design and manufacturing. This vertical integration means we control the production of most aircraft components on-site, enhancing our ability to innovate and maintain high standards across all stages of development.
About The Role:
- Lead the end-to-end production build of our unmanned vehicles.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with your team, peers, customers, suppliers, partners, and stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence and compliance to all production requirements and airworthiness within your business area.
- Drive Quality efficiency and innovation in the manufacture, build and assembly processes, optimising team resource allocation to meet delivery schedules. Oversee regulatory compliance, health, and safety standards adherence.
- Provide opportunity, stimulation and guidance on new ideas and drive the department forwards in operational thinking and resource management.
Ability to hold Security Clearance - 5 years residence in the UK
What you’ll being doing (but not limited to):
- Lead and inspire a production team to manufacture in line with the production schedule.
- Engage and manage engineering change requests into the production line to ensure they do not interrupt the production schedule but enable the customer to receive the highest quality and most up to date product.
- Produce a weekly production report to the SLT that describes progress against business objectives.
- Analyse a buy or make model for each production area within the business and be able to clearly identify when and why it makes sense to produce internally or externally.
- Define, prioritise and monitor weekly targets for each sub-assembly team in line with production schedule.
- Coordinate dependencies between manufacturing teams daily.
- Review and communicate progress at key review meetings with the project manager on a weekly basis.
- Conduct informal daily team briefs and formal weekly briefings to update team members on responsibilities, practices and expectations.
- Plan for future production and delivery requirements, pre-empting unit and component schedules versus available storage and inspection needs, to minimise any impact on schedule delivery.
- Ensure adequate stock control, issue management through tailored documentation.
- Drive operational improvements to position the team for growth and efficiency gain on our production line in 2025.
- Evaluate changes in manufacturing, capabilities, technologies, build and test processes and implement tailored processes to improve efficiency and encourage capture of information.
- Support the Project Manager to develop and review project plan and hold project team to account for delivery of their targets daily utilising sub-assembly production trackers.
- Conduct staff performance coaching and an annual appraisal.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- No prior knowledge of UAVs required
- Taking reasonable care of their own health and safety ensuring high standards for safety, health and environment (SHE) in our organisation are maintained.
- Very experienced professional with extensive knowledge of the manufacturing disciplines - Lean, 5S, Six Sigma, Kanban etc
- Appropriate Engineering or Management qualification or relevant experience
- Communicate and contextualise flow down of business strategy for your business area and to lead the delivery of that strategy whilst managing organisational change.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Understanding of electro-mechanical manufacturing
- Technical knowledge of aircraft detail and assembly build as well as associated manufacturing techniques and processes.
- Awareness of airframe engineering, UAVs and design engineering.
- SAP (S/Hana) or any similar ERP systems
