We’re on the lookout for a skilled Mechanical Fitter or HGV/Plant Mechanic to join a leading defence manufacturer in Stockport. You’ll be working on specialist bridge launcher systems – assembling and fitting components onto drivable HGV platforms in a clean, modern facility.
What You’ll Be Doing:- Fitting mechanical and hydraulic components to military vehicles
- Working from drawings and instructions to assemble precision systems
- Using hand tools, torque wrenches, verniers and lifting equipment
- Ensuring quality and safety standards are met at every stage
What We’re Looking For:- Background in mechanical fitting, HGV/plant maintenance or heavy assembly
- Confident reading engineering drawings and using workshop tools
- Some experience with hydraulics or pneumatics
- A team player with a safety-first mindset
Bonus If You Have:
- Ex-forces (REME) or defence sector experience
- Forklift or crane ticket
- Welding/fabrication knowledge
