Private Sector Housing Officer - Hourly Rate: £26.44 PAYE

We are seeking a dedicated Private Sector Housing Officer to join our team on an ongoing temporary basis. This role is crucial in making a real difference to residents' lives by ensuring that conditions and management in private residential accommodation meet satisfactory standards. The focus will be on the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) within the Adult Social Care service.
Day-to-day of the role: - Investigate service requests and conduct programmed inspections under the Housing Act 2004, Environmental Protection Act 1990, and other relevant legislation.
- Carry out inspections of a wide variety of homes in the Private Rented Sector, assessing housing conditions and management standards.
- Process applications for property licences, including inspection of housing conditions and assessment of management standards.
- Take enforcement action in respect of licensing requirements, non-compliance with housing conditions, housing management, and other related defects.
- Prepare detailed reports or briefing documents containing analysis of issues, proposals for implementation, and recommendations for action.
- Monitor and assess compliance with licensing conditions in licensed properties.
- Prepare prosecution cases and attend Court hearings as a witness for the prosecution.
Required Skills & Qualifications: - Experience in housing conditions assessment and property licensing.
- Familiarity with the Housing Act 2004, Environmental Protection Act 1990, and other relevant legislation.
- Ability to draft schedules of works, notices, and orders for enforcement.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to prepare detailed reports and recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise effectively with landlords, managing agents, and other stakeholders.
- Competency in IT systems relevant to the role, including property databases.
