About the Role

A secondary school in Southampton is looking for a Religious Education Teacher to join their team from September 2025. This is a full-time role, initially long-term, with the chance to become permanent if it's the right fit for both sides.

You'll be teaching RE to students in Key Stages 3 and 4. The school is looking for someone who can make the subject meaningful and relevant, helping students explore different beliefs and values in a respectful and thoughtful way.

Whether you're an experienced teacher or an ECT just starting out, the school is open to hearing from teachers who care about making a difference and building good relationships with students.

What You'll Be Doing

Teaching RE to classes in Years 7 to 11

Planning lessons that encourage open discussion and thoughtful reflection

Creating a classroom environment where students feel safe expressing different views

Supporting students of all abilities and helping them achieve their best

Working with the wider department to share resources and ideas

Taking part in school events or contributing to tutor time and assemblies if you're keen

About the School

The school is a mixed secondary for students aged 11-16. It's based in Southampton, with good local transport links. The staff team is friendly, and there's a supportive leadership structure in place.

The RE department is small but well-organised, with a clear curriculum and access to shared resources. Staff are encouraged to bring their own ideas and are given the space to grow in their roles. There's a good mix of experienced teachers and newer staff, and help is always on hand when needed.

What They're Looking For

UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

A background in Religious Education or a related subject

Experience teaching KS3 and KS4 (or strong placement experience if you're an ECT)

A calm and consistent approach to behaviour management

Someone who's approachable, reliable, and keen to be part of the wider school community

What You'll Get

A daily rate between £160 and £240 (depending on experience)

Ongoing support and the chance for the role to become permanent

A settled and welcoming team environment

Opportunities for CPD and personal development

Convenient location with public transport options nearby
