CE Night Driver - Howden, East Yorkshire
The Best Connection is acting as an employment business on behalf of our client, a leading kitchen furniture manufacturer based in Howden, East Yorkshire. We are currently seeking experienced CE (Class 1) Night Drivers to undertake an assessment and induction, with the opportunity for ongoing, full-time work.
Role Overview
The position involves curtain-sided trailer trunking, delivering flat-packed, palletised kitchen furniture components to regional distribution hubs. Occasional backloads may be required. Start times typically range between 15:00 and 21:00.
This role requires a high level of professionalism and driving competence, particularly in:
Securing loads safely using straps
Correctly coupling trailers to units
Strict adherence to tachograph regulations and Working Time Directive (WTD) rules
Pay Rates
Monday to Friday night work: £19.23 per hour
Weekend night work: £24.06 per hour
Night shift allowance: £15.10 per shift
All breaks are paid
Minimum of 8 hours' pay guaranteed per shift
Induction Process
All candidates must complete a paid induction prior to commencing work. This involves attending a full night shift, typically starting between 14:00 and 16:00, and includes:
Training on driving skills and hazard awareness
Health and safety procedures
Tachograph and Highway Code knowledge
A practical trunking assessment to distribution depots
Hours worked during induction are paid, with a minimum of 8 hours guaranteed. Successful completion may lead to ongoing, full-time employment.
Candidate Requirements
Valid CE (Class 1) licence held for a minimum of 1 year
Proven, recent experience driving articulated vehicles
Experience with curtain-sided trailers
Strong load securing and strapping skills
Maximum of 6 minor licence points
No DR, DG, or DD endorsements
Additional Information
Our client operates a strict zero-tolerance policy on tachograph and WTD infringements. Drivers will also be required to use the Microlise system for vehicle and performance monitoring as part of standard operations.
