Purpose of Job

The individual will be required to deliver an efficient, transparent, flexible, and comprehensive service to the Datacentre Project team, whilst ensuring the safeguarding of the business as usual operation.

This is a fixed term contract anticipated to last approximately 1 year from Q2 of 2019 supporting the projects at one or more datacentres monitoring contractor performance. Whilst acting as a competent person (CP), to manage safe project deliver in business sensitive areas, the individuals are expected to learn the sites and develop their specialist knowledge. This is with a view to becoming an authorised person ready for their next role as shift technician as and when a role becomes vacant and or to provide relief cover, for which a corresponding increase in remuneration will be made.

It is anticipated that the PIT will, on completion of the contract join the BAU team as a qualified shift technician on a continental shift pattern at a location that meets the business needs at the time.

Although the base site will be Croydon Data Centre, the candidate may be required to attend the alternative datacentre as necessary to support other related project activities. Reasonable travel costs to these other locations will be covered and can be claimed through the Company expense reclamation processes.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a day to day contact for the appropriate project team day to day activities and interface between the project needs and BAU teams.

Monitor the safe working practices of subcontractors against approved RAMS etc.

Facilitate access to site, inductions and ensuring compliance with respect to access to and through spaces not demised to the project delivery team.

To identify, reduce and manage and or escalate all risks (technical, statutory, health and safety, or otherwise) associated with each and every project.

To escalate concerns with project delivery and or management by third parties to the Company site management team.

To understand and familiarize one's self with the Company A-Z rules, the site rules and monitor the health and safety working conditions on each and every project and to escalate concerns to the site management team.

To provide escorting duties in areas that are not demised to the contractor undertaking project activities to ensure BAU operations are not unduly affected, escalating concerns as necessary to the site management team.

Provide shift and or AP cover as necessary when project activities allow (and suitably qualified) and or provide additional escorting duties to the BAU team for other small works activities.

To undertake other reasonable related activities as and when required.

Accountabilities

Directly accountable to the Date Centre Project Manager and indirectly through the technical manager for the respective project site

This post carries no direct budgetary responsibility but financial awareness and understanding is required.

Accountable for day to day activities with the BAU duty shift manager and must attend a daily briefing with the shift.

Skill Requirements

Site CP with a technical background to at least technician standard.

Articulate and able to communicate project intent to the BAU team.

Willingness and ability to complete AP15 HV training and related Company appointment process.

The following qualifications/training are required to be held and/or completed;

AP 15 (and appointment as an AP HV/LV)

Company led Human Factor training

PTW

RA

Site induction

Incident escalation

Other Information

The individual will be expected to develop both skills and knowledge throughout the contract.

Working hours will need to be flexible to meet project needs, which will include out of hours working which will be paid, given as TOIL or a combination thereof.

With an initial salary of £35,000 that will be reviewed and improved to £44.000
