Level 6 qualification with corporate membership of CABE/CIOB or equivalent experience.

Experience assessing and inspecting domestic developments.

Strong knowledge of the Building Act, Building Regulations, and enforcement procedures.

Experience dealing with dangerous structures and demolitions.

Able to work independently, prioritise workload, and respond to out-of-hours emergencies.

Good IT skills, verbal and written communication, and strong customer care abilities.

Grade 8 (Senior Building Control Officer):

As above, plus corporate membership of CABE/RICS or 5+ years of relevant Building Control experience.

Experience in assessing complex/non-domestic applications, risk assessment, fee determination, and validation.

Ability to undertake commercial/statutory Building Control tasks independently.
