Senior Financial Accountant

• Annual Salary: Circa £65,000 per annum
• Location: London
• Job Type: Fixed Term Contract – 12 months

Our client a rapidly expanding multi-site property development and management company, are seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join their finance team.

This role is ideal for a qualified accounting professional making their first move into industry from an audit background, ideally who is ACA Qualified and has some real estate or property exposure.

This role will report directly to the Financial Controller and work alongside the Management Accountant to oversee a team of 3, with team size expected to increase.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Prepare consolidated and individual company annual statutory accounts.
• Responsible for the monthly consolidation for group reporting purposes.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards.
• Oversee the audit process and liaise with auditors.
• Liaise with external tax advisors and oversee the preparation of corporation tax returns and tax accounting.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Produce cash flow forecasts.
• Manage and own rent registers.
• Develop and implement finance process initiatives across the group to support business growth.
• Assist the Financial Controller with ad-hoc tasks and projects as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• ACA qualified accountant, ideally coming from an audit practice with at least 2 years post-qualification experience.
• Ideally some experience within the real estate sector – Student Housing be highly desirable.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Good understanding of consolidations and preparation of consolidation journals.
• Proficient in both FRS102 and IFRS.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office packages, especially Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of VAT and some experience with partially exempt VAT.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team and be a strong team player.
• Must be proactive, have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and develop.
