Data Engineer (6 Month Contract)

About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Data Engineer to join a fast-paced data and technology environment on a 6-month contract.
You will work within a cross-functional team supporting business intelligence, product analytics and operational data needs across the platform.
This role is focused on delivering scalable, reliable and well-structured data solutions on AWS, helping transform business requirements into production-ready data pipelines and models.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines.
- Develop and optimise large-scale relational database systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server).
- Architect and implement AWS-based data solutions using services such as:
- S3
- Redshift
- Glue
- Lambda
- Athena
- EMR
- Translate business and product requirements into clear technical data specifications.
- Develop and maintain data models, schemas and documentation to support reporting and analytics.
- Ensure data quality, integrity and reliability through testing and monitoring.
- Support cross-functional teams with reliable data access and insights delivery.
- Identify opportunities to automate data workflows and improve performance.
What You'll Bring
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
- Strong SQL and relational database optimisation experience.
- Hands-on experience with AWS data services.
- Experience with ETL/ELT development.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing principles.
- Ability to translate business problems into technical solutions.
- Experience with Python, Spark, or similar data processing tools (desirable).
- Knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, or infrastructure-as-code practices is beneficial.
