 Systems Administrator 

DESCRIPTION: The successful candidate will: provide system administrator (SA) support for operational and Consolidated Test Environment(CTE) systems; respond to and resolve Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS) jobs; provide SA support in accordance with 2nd Space Operations Squadron (2 SOPS) processes and maintenance Technical Orders (TO); provide configuration control for operational and CTE systems to ensure system baseline changes are recorded, discrepancies/changes are documented, and 2 SOPS agencies are notified. Configuration management control is maintained per 2 SOPS Operating Instruction (OI) 21-1. The successful candidate will provide support 8x5 (0700-1530, Mon-Fri) with on-call support for off-hour system deliveries and installations

System administration duties include maintaining smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space. The successful candidate will interact with users and evaluate vendor products, make recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinate installations, and provide backup recovery. The successful candidate will also develop and monitor policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.


Must have an ACTIVE Secret clearance

Solaris and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) proficiency
Candidate must have and maintain Security + certification
Candidate must be willing to work off-shift and weekends
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Candidate must have the ability to work in a team-oriented setting or independently as required to achieve goals and objectives in a fast-paced schedule driven environment.

Experience with the Global Positioning System (GPS) Operational Control Segment (OCS), and Oracle SPARC T4-1/T7-1 servers is desired.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree. Considered an emerging authority.
