We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team in Blackburn. This role involves working Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, providing specialised support to a Year 2 student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The position is available for immediate start.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide one-to-one support to a Year 2 student with ASD, focusing on both academic and social development.
- Implement tailored educational plans designed to meet the student's specific needs.
- Assist with the development of social skills through structured activities.
- Work closely with teachers and other educational staff to monitor the student's progress and adjust support as necessary.
- Facilitate a safe and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement.
- Utilise effective behaviour management strategies to handle challenging situations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly ASD.
- Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with ASD and effective strategies to support them.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- Patience, empathy, and a dedicated approach to supporting children's learning and development.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
