We are working with a specialist provision in Burnley who are seeking a committed and passionate KS3 SEN Teacher to join their dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine impact on pupils with complex social, emotional and mental health needs within a warm, therapeutic and highly supportive environment.
The school provides personalised education for pupils aged 7-16, many of whom are Children Looked After. With a strong therapeutic approach and a nurturing atmosphere, the environment is designed to help every pupil develop emotionally, socially and academically.
The Role
As a KS3 SEN Teacher, you will plan and deliver inclusive, high-quality lessons that meet the unique needs of pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviours. You’ll work closely with specialist staff to create a safe, supportive learning environment built on trust, consistency and trauma-informed practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, evidence-informed lessons tailored to individual needs
- Use assessment data effectively to monitor progress and adjust teaching strategies
- Support pupils’ social, emotional and academic development through therapeutic approaches
- Maintain high expectations for learning and behaviour in line with the school’s policies
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and specialist support teams
About You
You’ll bring enthusiasm, empathy and resilience, with a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils who require consistent and trauma-informed teaching.
Requirements
- Proven experience teaching pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour
- Strong knowledge of curriculum, assessment and behaviour management in SEN settings
- QTS/QTLS required
- Commitment to safeguarding, professional conduct and high standards of teaching
- Ability to plan, deliver and assess effective learning
- Empathy, adaptability and resilience
