We are seeking a committed and adaptable Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a Secondary Alternative Provision in Blackburn with Darwen. This long-term, full-time role is ideal for someone who thrives on supporting vulnerable students and is confident leading the class when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Support students aged 11-16 in a Secondary Alternative Provision setting, often with behavioural, emotional, and social needs.

Build strong relationships with students to help them engage with education in a positive and constructive way.

Deliver pre-set lessons across a range of subjects in the absence of the class teacher.

Help maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.

Work closely with the teaching team to implement strategies that promote progress and well-being.

Confidently manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour in line with school policy.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

HLTA status or relevant experience in a similar role.

Experience working in a Secondary Alternative Provision or similar setting.

Strong classroom management skills and a calm, consistent approach.

The ability to work flexibly across various subjects (all work is pre-prepared).

A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature.
