Job Title: Manufacturing Design Engineer – Retail Displays

Market 36 Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our client based in Witham for a Manufacturing Design Engineer to join their growing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic and innovative business specialising in the design and manufacture of high-quality retail display solutions for leading brands across a variety of industries.

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will play a key role in transforming conceptual retail display designs into detailed, production-ready engineering documentation. You will collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure that projects are delivered with precision, creativity, and cost-efficiency—from prototype to final production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Translate industrial design concepts into detailed engineering drawings for fabrication
• Create 3D models and manufacturing drawings using Inventor
• Select suitable materials and processes (wood, metal, acrylic, plastic, print) considering cost, durability, and visual appeal
• Collaborate with production teams and external suppliers to ensure feasibility and accuracy
• Conduct tolerance analysis, create Bills of Materials (BOMs), and evaluate design for manufacture (DFM)
• Provide input on tooling and assembly methods
• Support prototyping, testing, and iterative design development
• Ensure adherence to project deadlines, budgets, and quality standards
• Comply with health and safety regulations and client-specific requirements
• Occasional travel for site visits, installations, or supplier meetings may be required

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, Product Design, or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in retail display design or custom fabrication
• Proficiency in CAD software, particularly Autodesk Inventor
• Strong understanding of materials and processes such as woodworking, metalwork, acrylic forming, and printing
• Knowledge of DFM principles and production constraints
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Confident communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally
• Capable of managing multiple projects to tight deadlines

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with POP/POS display manufacturing
• Hands-on fabrication or shop-floor experience
• Awareness of sustainable materials and manufacturing practices
• Familiarity with ERP or PDM systems
