Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager

Location: East London (2 sites, approx. 1 mile apart)Salary & Benefits: £440/month car allowance + up to 5% bonus + full benefits packageHours: Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week (between 7:30am-6:00pm, including 1-hour lunch). Flexibility required to support other shifts, including nights.

Please note: A full UK driving licence is essential due to travel between two manufacturing sites.

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading FMCG food manufacturer for an experienced HSE Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing organisation focused on strengthening its safety culture and driving environmental and sustainability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with HSE legislation (PUWER, DSEAR, Working at Height, Fire Safety, etc.)
  • Act as main contact for regulators (HSE, Fire Authority)
  • Lead H&S meetings and manage risk assessments
  • Investigate incidents and oversee RIDDOR reporting
  • Conduct audits and manage insurance compliance requirements

Health

  • Support health surveillance and occupational health programmes
  • Maintain accurate health records and conduct facility audits
  • Assist with capability assessments and claims management

Environmental

  • Monitor and report energy usage across sites
  • Lead environmental improvement and sustainability initiatives
  • Maintain environmental reporting and management systems
About You
  • Background in FMCG or similar manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of industrial risks (COSHH, PUWER, DSEAR, etc.)
  • NEBOSH Diploma (IOSH/IEMA membership preferred; chartered or working towards)
  • 5+ years in a senior HSE role
  • Experience with ISO45001/ISO14001 systems
  • Confident working with regulators and leading audits
  • Strong communicator with a proactive, structured approach
  • Flexible to support a 24/7 operation
