Aspen Wolf are looking to recruit a Traffic Planner for our well established Logistics client based in Durham area.

Hours of work Monday - Friday 08:00 - 18:00 and (1 in 4 Saturday working 08:00 till 12 noon)

The Role:

* To help manage the day to day running of the Company's Transport Operations and ensure that Vehicles are roadworthy and that Drivers comply with traffic and drivers' hours rules.

* To effectively and continuously help manage the transport activities required under the company's Operators Licence safely and compliantly.

* Make arrangements to ensure that all company vehicles and trailers are maintained properly, including the servicing, inspection, brake testing and MOT's at the appropriate times and action taken to remedy defects.

Main Duties:

* Make arrangements to ensure that vehicles are not overloaded and that all loads are strapped and secure.

* Assist in meeting budget expectations.

* Manage drivers times and ensure correct routes are taken. Monitor using tracking system.

* Maintain and manage accurate administrative records including the TOPS system and traffic boards.

* Develop existing and new customer relationships.

* Provide proactive support to other departments when needed.

You will also be required to:

* Make sure loads reach their destination safely, on time and in the most cost effective way.

* Work with customers and suppliers planning routes and scheduling delivery times.

* Day to day management of a team of administration staff and drivers.

* Route drivers and vehicles to ensure load maximisation at all times.

* Communicate with drivers throughout the day and speak to every driver each night so they know what they are doing the next day and issuing relavant start times.

* Communicate any problems (delays etc.) to customers as soon as possible to maintain good working relationships and iron out any issues.

* Ensure all information is completed and updated on traffic sheets/notice boards as the day progresses.

* Look for and plan backloads.

* Liase with Garage making vehicles and trailers available as and when they are required for service, mot. etc.

* Give drivers a full debriefing, identifying operational issues, potential problems and opportunuties, tachograph analysis/driver infringements and taking disciplinary measures when required.

* Arrange for the induction and training of all new staff.

* Check time sheets against clocking system/tachographs/vehicle tracker/start times.

* Issue fuel cards to drivers, keeping fuel card register up to date.

* Plan for holiday cover for drivers (agency etc.).

* Ensure weekly driver packs are prepared and issued for start of week.

* Ensure pod's are processed and matched to invoices.

* Health & Safety awareness for yourself and others.

* Carry out set amount of Driver Audit Checks weekly.

* Ensure vehicles/trailers are correctly parked up, trailers and rigids are parked with curtains closed and secured and any loaded trailers are positioned on road plates in the compound.
