GBR Recruitment Ltd, are delighted to be working exclusively with a well respected & highly progressive SME sized Construction Steels Manufacturing & Installation company, recruiting for an experienced Financial Control professional, in the form of a Finance Manager (could also suit a Management Accountant, Head of Finance or Financial Controller) to manage all aspects of the companies balance sheet & to provide both strategic plus operational change, developing new financial processes, better financial control & positively driving increased performance across bottom & top lines accounts.

In this top level no.1 financial role, you will lead a small finance / accounts team (hands on role) report to the Board of Directors & support the Senior Management teams in increasing profit levels & margins, reducing overheads (procurement of materials, staffing, manufacturing costs / waste), improving financial reporting (MI / KPI's) & improving overall financial control, allowing the business to operate more smartly & efficiently, by driving CI / Change / LEAN principles company wide, making Managers more aware of financial performance.

Duties:

  • Work with the Board of Directors, to agree financial reporting needs.
  • Financial lead (no.1) for the company, reporting figures to the Group.
  • Project lead for financial processes including financial information flow (MI), plus technology requirements & financial governance advice.
  • Manage with Divisional Management all Work in Progress (WIP).
  • Support calculations for WIP valuations.
  • Lead all monthly stock takes & accurate stock holding journaling / stock reporting (using internal ERP systems).
  • Total balance sheet management, including Tax Returns (VAT, PAYE, CT), Credit Control, Accounts Payable and Project Work in Progress.
  • Deliver financial & operational performance insights (monthly reports).
  • Implement all financial internal controls, managing all working capital.
  • Business partner for Commercial, Delivery & Operational teams
  • Improve financial performance (margins / revenue) utilising effective client management processes, securing beneficial commercial project terms i.e. profitable Contractual & Financial agreements.
  • Business Partner to the Head of Procurement driving supplier strategy, inc. contractual & financial terms of supply (best price / best quality).
  • Complete all month end & year end accounting activities (management accounts, forecasts & cash flow records).
  • Support improvements across project delivery, company budgets, forecasting & financial reporting / commentary.
  • Support pre-contract / contract delivery costings & the review of WIP.
  • Managing all financial risks including FX, contracts & financing.
  • Manage the annual audit process with the external auditors.
  • End to end financial management, financial analysis & financial reporting
  • Key player in all project costing.
  • Mentor, Coach & Manage the finance & accounts team to success.
  • Lead annual financial performance reviews & analyse results for CI.
  • Stringent financial control, to achieve short & long-term business goals.
  • Part of the SMT on project management / implementation of business development growth opportunities
  • Full financial risk management, evaluating, troubleshooting & remedying.
  • Map out the internal finance processes & deliver them successfully.
  • Work to & achieve the internal financial / accounting SLA's.

Attributes:

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA / AAT) with experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Management, Management Accountant, Head of Finance or similar responsibility.
  • Ideally with a strong Financial / Accountancy Management background, from within Manufacturing, Steels, Construction (main contractor / sub-contractor services), Civils, Building Services or similar operations.
  • Used to managing a small team & leading from the front (hands on).
  • Experienced in using various Financial Software Systems & ERP Software Systems, plus strong in Excel (formulas, v look up etc.).
