This is an exciting opportunity for you to join Hertfordshire Police within the Beacon Safeguarding Hub.

Role: Victim Safeguarding officer - Beacon Safeguarding Hub

Location: Hatfield

Rate: £13.10

Contract length: 20 Months

Shift Patterns: Between 8am-8pm, weekends included

Main purpose of the role

To provide bespoke support to victims of medium risk intimate domestic abuse in Hertfordshire. To work closely with partner agencies and the domestic abuse investigation teams ensuring that victims of intimate domestic abuse are provided with outstanding victim care following an assessment of their needs and providing safeguarding support. To perform administrative duties including those of a complex nature and capture data and provide reports. Enhancing relationships with partner agencies. To contribute to achieving the vision, purpose and values of Hertfordshire Constabulary.

Key Responsibilities

To contact a victim by telephone or other preferred channel (if indicated by the victim), to offer support, advice and updates relating to their crime.
To conduct an initial assessment of victim's needs, determine a care pathway for support and where appropriate, signpost or refer to available internal/external services.
To provide assistance and guidance on entitlements under the Victim Code of Practice (VCOP) to victims e.g. advising and agreeing method of preferred contact, Victims Right to Review, Victim Personal Statement, etc.
To identify safeguarding issues or further concerns and action appropriately.
Overall responsibility for completing accurate, statistical reports for the monthly reporting and data capture
Undertake a range of administrative duties, some of which may be complex in nature, to support a professional team.
Complete MARAC referrals.
Ability to gather and evaluate information to gain accurate understanding of situations, exercising discretion and interrogating corporate systems to gain information and evidence to further investigations e.g. FED, ATHENA and force data systems, PNC.
To contribute to the management of investigations by using professional judgement to identify proportionate lines of enquiry or the recording of further disclosed crimes following prescriptive care and support.Entry Requirements

Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively, both verbally and in writing with a diverse range of people.
Experience in delivering high standards of customer service.
Excellent spoken skills for dealing with the public, particularly those who are vulnerable or distressed from their experience of being a victim of domestic abuse.
Experience of prioritising and managing high-volume administrative work.
Proven ability to gather and evaluate information to gain an understanding of situations when dealing with victims in distress or at a time of crisis.Apply now! And a member of the team will be in touch to discuss next steps.
