Hours: 30 hours per week / 39 weeks per year (term time) - Typically 8.30-3.30 with 30 minute unpaid lunch break.
Salary range: Actual £12,510 (calculated as 30/37 x 44.09 / 52 x £18,198 FTE)
The school based in Gosport is seeking to recruit additional support staff to join them from Easter or September 2021 to support their highly thought of SEND provision. The role will be a challenging, yet rewarding role that will require you to work with pupils on a one to one and small group basis. The school are seeking individuals who can support students academically, however with a therapeutic approach and who have good level of emotional intelligence and empathy.
With four specialist provisions that cater for students who have mostly have Social, Emotional and Mental Health Challenges (SEMH), you will be require to work pupils of all abilities to help them achieve their full potential. The school also caters for a small number of students with Physical Disabilities who may need support with mobility and accessing resources.
To be successful in one of their Learning Support posts, you should have a genuine interest supporting children with SEMH and be able to demonstrate knowledge of the complex issues associated with it. You should be compassionate and be able to deploy a wide range of interpersonal skills, together with strong behaviour management. It is essential you are able to work using your own initiative, under pressure to achieve quality work. You will be required to work flexibly according to the needs of the school.
The role would be suitable for a recent graduate of a curriculum subject or Psychology who is interested to train to teach in the future in a Secondary or SEN environment or an already experienced Learning Support Assistant seeking a new challenge.
