# Position Information

## Position Summary

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking candidates for an open-rank, fixed-term faculty position in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. In addition to maintaining a clinical role within the Division, this position will serve as Faculty Medical Director of the Pediatric Clinical Research Unit (CRU) associated with Children's Research Institute. The position will have responsibility for strategic planning, development, and overall accountability of the CRU with a focus on generating results that ultimately lead to evidence-based interventions for our pediatric population, improving the health and well-being of children, families and communities through high impact research. This position will place a strong emphasis on research activities focused on infectious diseases. Preference will be shown for candidates having a demonstrated record of conducting clinical research including NIH- and industry-funded clinical trials with a background in and knowledge of regulatory standards and good clinical practice guidelines; building, managing, and overseeing multiple clinical research projects; and acquiring extramural funding.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Responsibilities will include preparation of clinically relevant publications, and applying for and securing of grant and industry funding. This candidate will be directly involved in the education of medical students and residents while providing outstanding patient care to the children at North Carolina Children's Hospital.

MD or MD/PhD trained and Board Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases

Preference will be shown for candidates having a demonstrated record of conducting clinical research including NIH- and industry-funded clinical trials with a background in and knowledge of regulatory standards and good clinical practice guidelines; building, managing, and overseeing multiple clinical research projects; and acquiring extramural funding.
