Your new companyHays are delighted to be supporting our client within the healthcare sector in recruiting an experienced Facilities Supervisor to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. You will be joining a large, complex estate with a diverse portfolio of clinical and non-clinical environments, where facilities services play a critical role in supporting day-to-day operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Facilities or Maintenance Supervisor who enjoys leading teams and ensuring high standards across multiple sites.Your new roleAs Facilities Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising a multi-skilled FM and maintenance team and ensuring the safe, compliant and effective delivery of both planned preventative maintenance and reactive works across several locations.This is a varied role that combines hands-on maintenance delivery with office-based supervisory and coordination duties. You will work closely with management to support statutory compliance, healthcare engineering standards and operational requirements, while acting as the first point of escalation for maintenance issues on site.Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising and supporting a team of maintenance engineers across multiple trades
  • Allocating work via a CAFM/helpdesk system and managing priorities
  • Coordinating planned and reactive maintenance to agreed timescales
  • Providing technical guidance, mentoring and performance support to your team
  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding and probation reviews
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, permits to work and RAMS
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance and compliance records for audit purposes
  • Supervising contractors and monitoring quality and compliance
  • Carrying out site audits and liaising with key stakeholders
  • Supporting service improvement initiatives and maintenance planning
  • Participating in out-of-hours arrangements when required

What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this Facilities Supervisor role, you will bring strong leadership skills alongside a practical, proactive approach.Essential experience and skills:

  • Proven experience supervising an FM, maintenance or engineering team
  • Background and prior career experience within the FM or maintenance sectors
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to remain hands-on when required
  • Knowledge of planned maintenance systems (CAFM)
  • Sound understanding of health and safety legislation
  • Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office

Essential qualifications:

  • Relevant trade qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 2 or equivalent)

Desirable:

  • Experience working in healthcare or similarly regulated environments
  • Knowledge of HTM standards, water safety or fire safety
  • Contractor management experience
  • Supervisory or management qualification (ILM, NVQ Level 3 or above)
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent health and safety training
