Are you an experienced finance leader with a strong track record in managing finance teams and delivering high-quality financial reporting in the not-for-profit sector? We're working with a respected charitable organisation in the South East that is seeking a Head of Finance to join them on a 7-month fixed-term basis.

This is a key leadership role, reporting directly to the Director of Finance and overseeing a large finance team of 20+. You'll play a pivotal part in finalising the 2024/25 audit, leading month-end processes, enhancing systems and controls, and helping shape the organisation's financial strategy over the next 3 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and day-to-day management of the finance function, including purchase/sales ledger, management accounting, financial reporting, and cashflow.
  • Deliver timely and accurate monthly management accounts with variance analysis and commentary.
  • Lead the production of year-end statutory accounts for the organisation and its subsidiaries, in line with Charity SORP (FRS 102).
  • Oversee external audit preparation and coordination.
  • Support the Director of Finance with strategic financial planning and Board reporting.
  • Contribute to the review and improvement of financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Provide financial oversight for the development of the 2026/27 budget.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) - essential.
  • Strong experience in producing consolidated statutory accounts under Charity SORP - essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large finance teams and deliver against tight deadlines.
  • Significant experience in financial planning, analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting software
  • Experience in not-for-profit, charity, or housing association environments.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly.
  • Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach to operational finance.
