Hours: 37 hours per week

About the role
This is a strategically important leadership role at a time when York College is accelerating its ambition to be recognised as one of the highest-performing colleges in the country. The Assistant Director for Business and Professional provision will play a central role in shaping and delivering a high-quality, future-focused curriculum across areas with significant potential for growth, employer engagement and progression.

You will have the opportunity to:
•    Drive curriculum innovation and redesign to better meet employer and regional skills needs
•    Strengthen outcomes, attendance and student progression across your areas
•    Build high-performing teams through strong leadership, accountability and support
•    Enhance employer partnerships and align provision to workforce demand
•    Contribute to whole-college priorities, including quality improvement and growth

Reporting to the Director of Curriculum: Apprenticeships, Higher Level & Technical, you will lead a team of three Curriculum and Standards Managers (CSMs) overseeing Business, Hospitality and Tourism, and Sport and Uniformed Services.

You will provide clear and confident leadership to deliver curriculum strategy, working closely with your CSMs to drive continuous improvement in teaching, learning and assessment, and ensure our provision remains aligned to national priorities and local skills needs.

About the person
You will be qualified to degree level or equivalent professional qualification, and possess a level 5 or above teaching qualification. 

With significant teaching and assessment experience, you will have experience of leading curriculum change, working at pace, and managing college-based learning for young people on study programmes, adult learning programmes, apprentices, and Higher Education. You should also be able to demonstrate a successful track record of developing and implementing strategies to enhance students' employability by securing positive progression outcomes.
