We are currently recruiting for an experienced Stores Operative to join a well-established heavy engineering business in Barnsley. This role is ideal for someone with previous stores or warehouse experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment who is confident operating both a Counterbalance FLT and an Overhead Crane.

The RoleAs a Stores Operative, you will play a key role in supporting production by ensuring materials and components are received, stored, and supplied efficiently across the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Receiving and booking in deliveries of materials and components

• Moving heavy materials using a Counterbalance FLT and Overhead Crane

• Issuing stock and materials to the production team

• Loading and unloading vehicles safely

• Maintaining accurate stock records and assisting with stock checks

• Ensuring the stores area is organised, safe, and efficient

The Candidate

• Previous experience working within a stores or warehouse role in manufacturing or heavy engineering

• Valid Counterbalance FLT licence

• Experience operating an Overhead Crane

• Comfortable handling heavy materials

• Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills

• Reliable with a strong awareness of health and safety
