Overview

Our new specialist education provision is dedicated to supporting learners aged 16-25 with complex behavioural needs. We provide a nurturing, flexible, and individualised learning environment that addresses therapeutic needs and ensures each learner reaches their fullpotential. The Subject Tutor role is essential in delivering a sensory-rich, emotionally supportive, and person-centred learning experience that fosters independence, well-being, and inclusivity.

The Role

· Providing high-quality, person-centred teaching and learning tailored to the individual

needs of learners with complex behavioural challenges.

· Collaborating with the progression tutor and other professionals to integrate holistic

learning strategies that address emotional regulation and social development.

· Supporting learners in developing independence, health and well-being, and

employability skills through personalised and meaningful learning pathways.

· Creating and adapting differentiated learning resources to ensure accessibility for all

learners, regardless of ability level.

· Maintaining a safe, structured, and emotionally supportive environment that promotes

learners' confidence and self-esteem.

· Monitoring, evaluating, and assessing learner progress, ensuring that learning

outcomes align with personalised goals.

· Maintaining own standards of performance to be good or better in all key aspects of the role and proactively seeking support when standards are less than good

· Teaching and learning, and assessment reflect best practices in SEND education and

inclusivity

· Engaging in continuous professional development to stay informed about best practices in SEND education, therapeutic interventions, and inclusive teaching strategies.

· Personalised learning plans effectively meet the diverse and complex needs of each

Other dimensions of the role

· Day-to-day direction and supervision of Learning Mentors in the learning environment.

· Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic learner support

· Developing and maintaining positive relationships with families, caregivers, and external support services.

Essential Skills

Applicants should hold a Teaching qualification (Education and Training Level 4 or equivalent) or have a willingness to work towards within an agreed time frame

· English and Maths level 2 or willingness to work towards in an agreed time frame

· TAQA level 3 or willingness to work towards within an agreed time frame

· Strong knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies that support learners with

complex behavioural needs and learning difficulties in reaching their potential.

· Ability to differentiate and modify teaching approaches to ensure accessibility

for all learners in a sensory-rich learning environment.

· Experience of the development and delivery of subject related aspects of a

Study Programme to a good or better standard.

· Experience of contextualising and embedding English, maths, employment,

health and well-being and independence targets.

· Working with young people and adults to overcome barriers to learning

· A sound knowledge and understanding of all basic aspects of planning and

delivering on post-16 study programmes.

· Knowledge of working with young people and adults to overcome barriers to

learning, particularly those with complex behavioural needs.

· Understanding of how to use Individual Communication Plans, Positive

Behaviour Support Plans and other Multi-Disciplinary Team reports to plan

and support positive outcomes for individual learners

· Have a positive outlook and a 'can do' solution-based approach to problem solving

and driving forward improvements to ensure learner achievement

This position is based within a modern purpose built facility.

Working Monday to Friday / 37.50 hours per week.
