The RIS-Research team is expanding, and we are recruiting for an exceptional professional to join us as the Trusted Research and Compliance Manager. The postholder plays a key role in supporting the delivery of the University's Strategy particularly in terms of academic research compliance and integrity. They will work with staff across professional services and Schools, acting as one of the principal enablers and advisors on key areas of research compliance, including Trusted Research, the Nagoya Protocol, export controls legislation, and the National Security and Investment Act 2021. They will be responsible for enabling cross-University compliance with established and emerging research focused governance policies and regulatory requirements, developing and delivering a strategic and operational service to ensure appropriate standards.

This is a full time and open-ended appointment.

Who are we looking for?

  • A professional qualified to degree level, or equivalent, ideally with experience working within the Higher Education sector.
  • Experience in a research governance/compliance, and an awareness of Trusted Research, export controls, the Nagoya Protocol and other regulatory, due diligence and security-related issues in relation to international research.
  • Ability to use skills, knowledge/experience, professional judgement, and initiative to manage projects and address issues and creatively solve problems as they arise.
  • Extensive experience of developing, revising and implementing policies and processes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and numeracy skills including the ability to understand and clearly communicate complex and specialised information to non-specialists on a regularbasis.
  • Ability to work effectively and build relationships with academic and professional services staff, and external partners, at all levels and across a wide range of disciplines.
