We are recruiting on behalf of a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy recognised for delivering innovative and sustainable building services solutions across the UK and internationally. Their portfolio includes complex commercial developments, high-end residential projects, and major aviation infrastructure schemes. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Design Engineer to join their dynamic Building Services team.

Role Overview

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical building services engineering solutions from concept through to detailed design and construction support. You will collaborate with internal multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to ensure designs meet rigorous technical, sustainability, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Produce electrical building services designs including:
LV distribution
Lighting and emergency lighting
Fire alarm systems
Small power
Cable containment systems
Security, access control, and ICT infrastructure
Prepare concept designs, feasibility studies, detailed design drawings, calculations, and specifications.
Use industry-standard software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Amtech/Trimble, and Dialux/Relux.
Participate in BIM Level 2 project delivery and coordination.
Liaise with clients, architects, structural engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
Ensure compliance with BS7671, CIBSE guidelines, UK Building Regulations, and relevant aviation-specific standards (if applicable).
Provide support during construction phases, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and attending site meetings.
Contribute to sustainability initiatives and low-carbon design strategies.
Assist with mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team development.

Skills & Experience Required

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline.
Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in building services electrical design (consultancy experience preferred).
Strong understanding of UK standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
Proficiency with design software: Revit, AutoCAD, Amtech/Trimble, Dialux/Relux.
Experience working on commercial, residential, or aviation projects (aviation experience advantageous but not essential).
Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
Ability to manage time effectively and work on multiple concurrent projects.
Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
Working toward Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the IET or already chartered (desirable)
