The Role

We are seeking an experienced Control & Instrumentation Engineer to join our team delivering critical projects on the AWE Burghfield site. This is a full-time, site-based role working on high-integrity nuclear/defence infrastructure, ensuring compliance with stringent safety, quality, and technical standards.
The successful candidate will be a C&I specialist (we may consider EC&I applicants, but the role is C&I-focused) with a proven track record in delivering instrumentation, control systems, and associated engineering packages in a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead C&I design, specification, and verification activities in line with project requirements.

Oversee installation, commissioning, and testing of C&I systems.

Ensure compliance with nuclear site licence conditions, relevant legislation, and industry standards.

Interface with design, construction, commissioning, and client teams.

Provide technical input on control systems, instrumentation, and safety systems.

Produce and review technical documentation, including design reports, test procedures, and operating instructions.

Support hazard and operability studies (HAZOP) and safety case requirements.

Essential Requirements

Active SC Clearance (cannot consider applicants without this).

Significant nuclear and/or defence sector experience.

Strong background in C&I engineering (EC&I candidates considered if C&I-focused).

Knowledge of relevant standards (BS EN, IEC, etc.) and safety integrity level (SIL) requirements.

Experience in the full lifecycle of C&I systems - from design through commissioning.

Strong communication skills and ability to work within a multi-disciplinary project team.
