Axon Moore are delighted to be working with a successful and growing business in Manchester city centre, to appoint a Finance Manager. This is a broad and hands-on Finance Manager position, offering full ownership of the finance function within a growing SME environment. It is ideally suited to someone who thrives in a hands-on SME environment and is looking to make a meaningful commercial impact by adding value by acting as a true business partner, challenging assumptions, and providing insight to support decision-making.
Salary & Benefits £45-55k DOE (may stretch for the right person), hybrid working 3 days in the office, 25 days holidays, rising each year to a max of 30 and bank holidays, gym and barista coffee facilities, plus many more!
Key Responsibilities- Full ownership of the day-to-day finances for the business including AP, AR, credit control, expenses, bank reconciliations, etc.
- Production of monthly management accounts and monthly board pack, to include business performance overview, cash position, budget vs actuals, client and project profitability/key risks and forward-looking insights.
- Cash flow management and short-term forecasting.
- VAT returns, payroll coordination, and year-end processes.
- Liaison with external accountants.
- Ownership and optimisation of finance systems and the current board pack.
- Driving process improvements, controls, and reporting discipline.
- Ad-hoc work as needed.
Experience & Skills- 5–10 years’ experience in finance
- Qualified (ACCA/CIMA) or Qualified by Experience (QBE)
- Strong experience producing and presenting board packs
- Solid understanding of accrual-based accounting
- Advanced Excel skills (modelling and reporting)
- Experience in SMEs or similar fast-paced environments preferred
