SEN Class Teacher - January Start (KS1 or KS3, Complex Needs)

A specialist educational setting in Farnborough, Hampshire, is seeking a dedicated SEN Class Teacher to join its team from January, with the potential for the role to become permanent for the right candidate. The successful applicant will be paid on the Teacher Pay Scale, with placement based on experience.

This is an exciting opportunity to teach either a KS1 or KS3 class, depending on the strengths and background of the appointed teacher. Both classes comprise pupils with complex learning needs, requiring a nurturing, adaptable and highly individualised approach to teaching.

The Role

The appointed teacher will:

Lead a KS1 or KS3 class of pupils with complex needs, delivering high-quality, personalised learning experiences.

Plan and adapt the curriculum to meet a wide range of cognitive, communication, sensory and social needs.

Create a positive, structured and inclusive learning environment that supports engagement and emotional wellbeing.

Work collaboratively with experienced support staff, therapists and senior leaders to ensure consistent, child-centred provision.

Establish trusting relationships with pupils and contribute to the wider life of the school community.

The Children

Pupils in this setting present with:

Complex learning difficulties, including moderate to severe learning needs.

Autism spectrum conditions and varied communication profiles, including non-verbal pupils and users of AAC.

Sensory processing needs requiring carefully planned classroom environments and therapeutic approaches.

Social, emotional and regulation needs, where predictable routines and compassionate practice are essential.

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for a teacher who:

Has experience within special education or strong transferable skills from mainstream SEN practice.

Is confident in differentiating learning for pupils with varied and complex needs.

Demonstrates patience, creativity and a commitment to inclusive, holistic teaching.

Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team and can establish positive relationships quickly.

Is seeking an opportunity that may develop into a permanent position.

Location

The school is located in the Farnborough area, with good transport links from Camberley, Fleet, Farnham, Guildford and surrounding Hampshire/Surrey areas.
