Role:

ONE Consulting is recruiting a Supportability & Safety Engineer on behalf of an international defence technology organisation, the position can be remotely based or based from one of several UK offices.

The S&S Engineer will have responsibility for working with project teams in order to demonstrate compliance with programme-specific supportability & safety requirements and deliverables.

Working as the point of contact for internal and external project stakeholders for related queries, you will be the point of contact for the engineering team for queries relating to system/product safety & supportability, encompassing: design, installation, use, maintenance, and disposal.

The role will involve working with a range of technical, business, product, and programme management colleagues, both in the UK and internationally, as well as with customers and suppliers, and so ability to adapt communications to changing audiences is important.

An ideal candidate be a military engineer with experience of working on complex platforms and systems, ideally with experience or exposure to either ILS, Supportability or Safety. However, experience of these disciplines is not essential, as full training, including paid development courses, will be provided by the employer.

A strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn and develop a specialised skillset and knowledge base in supportability and safety engineering is required and will lead to a progressive career with the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist project managers, sub-contractors and external customers as a suitably qualified and experienced personnel to demonstrate that a product, system, or service is acceptably safe by design for use, with a demonstratable supportability concept.

* Work with the head of function to support, develop and implement a strategy for achieving and maintaining safety & supportability requirements.

* Work with key sub-suppliers to extend safety & supportability concepts when collaborating on new projects.

* Support in-service products with safety and supportability aspects relating to upgrades, modifications or feature enhancements.

* Undertake, following training, ILS analysis tasks, such as Reliability Prediction, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, Maintenance Task Analysis, Spares Modelling, etc.

* Support, following training, the creation of safety documentation including, Hazard Log, Safety and Environmental Case Report, Functional Safety Report, Hazard Materials Analysis, Environmental Impact Assessment etc.

* Assist with obsolescence monitoring and parts codification.

* Assist with the technical authoring of product manuals.

* Assist with the creation of training materials.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

* An ideal candidate will have developed a military engineering career in complex systems/platforms and ideally have worked in a project engineering capacity previously.

* Experience of Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) or Safety Engineering is desirable, however, this role would suit a service leaver from a defence engineering background with the technical mindset and aptitude to learn and develop these skills.

* Experience/exposure to ILS & Safety Def-Stans (00-600, 00-55, 00-56) would be desirable.

* The role would suit a highly motivated and analytical person with excellent communication skills; both verbal and written.

* Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

Salary and Location:

* Salary c£40k - c£55k (Depending on experience).
