The Quality Assurance manager is responsible for assuring the consistent quality of products and services by developing and enforcing the Quality System in conjunction with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) for the facility. This position manages 5 or more people and reports directly directly to the Director of Quality. The QA Manager shall have the technical knowledge and skills necessary to achieve quality assurance objectives and possess the leadership skills to manage and develop the quality assurance team.

Required Experience:

  • Experience working in a high-paced Manufacturing / Production environment.
  • Experience working in an FDA/GMP regulated environment (21 CFR 210 and 211 experience).
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of technical experience.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree
  • 5+ years Manufacturing / Production QA
  • 3+ years managing in a Manufacturing / Production QA environment
  • Experience with building quality systems and processes from concept through to implementation and continuous use.

Preferred Experience:

  • Quality Certifications preferred (ASQ, GMP, SSBB)
  • Has managed a Quality Assurance team through effectively coaching and mentoring employees for career development; instill company core values through example; enforce policies and procedures.
  • Project Management skills to oversee strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to handle, organize and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and able to perform under pressure to meet deadlines. High degree of responsibility and accountability – ensuring requirements are met.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proactively achieve quality objectives by preparing and completing action plans; identifying and resolving problems; implementing production, quality, and customer-service standards; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing change; contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews.
  • Develops quality assurance plans by conducting failure mode analysis; identifying critical control points and preventative measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures.
  • Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other departments and management to develop new product specifications, procedures, and training methods.
  • Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring quality metrics; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
  • Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, summarizing information and trends including non-conformances, complaints, corrective actions, and validations.
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Manage the quality assurance team through effectively coaching and mentoring employees for career development; instill company core values through example; enforce policies and procedures.
  • Updates job knowledge by studying trends in and developments in quality management.

QA Manager Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of technical experience.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree
  • Quality Certifications preferred (ASQ, GMP, SSBB)
  • Experience working in an FDA/GMP regulated environment. (21 CFR 210 & 211 experience required)
  • Process Improvement (six sigma experience preferred)
  • Strategic planning, attention to detail, thoroughness, dealing with complexity
  • Project Management skills to oversee strategic initiatives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in a high-paced production environment.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to handle, organize and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and able to perform under pressure to meet deadlines. High degree of responsibility and accountability – ensuring requirements are met.
  • Team player with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision, and be accountable displaying high levels of integrity.
